CBRC doesn’t believe that violence is an inevitable experience in people’s lives, but rather that it is preventable with collective, mass action to support the development of healthy, liberated, and resilient communities. Using cutting-edge research on violence prevention, CBRC promotes the elimination of risk factors for violence prevention and the development of protective factors known to reduce the risk of violence perpetration. Through this approach, CBRC challenges us all to look at how we promote norms that contribute to the cycle of violence, and what we can do at the individual, relational, community, and societal levels to promote peace and safety at all levels of our society.
CBRC Violence Prevention work encourages individuals, groups, private and public actors to address the root causes and drivers which enable violence in our societies at all levels. Such as structural, institutional, systematic, symbolic, and political violence.
Our work is rooted in the restoration of human dignity, critical consciousness, transformative change processes, and social justice.
